Sheridan Team Wins 2017 Physician/PA of The Year Award

WAPA’s Physician/PA Team of The Year award deviated from tradition this year. Instead of honoring one Physician and one PA, the award was given to a team at Sheridan’s Big Horn Mountain Medicine last week during the WAPA Annual Meeting at Jackson Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park. Winning the award this year was the team of Julie Ackerman, MD; Hannah Hall, MD; Autumn Barrett, PA-C; and Erin Strahan, PA-C. The team won out over three other Physician/PA Teams which were nominated.

Ackerman and Hall met during their second summer at the University of Washington Medical School. They would later return to Wyoming practicing internal medicine at Big Horn Medicine in Sheridan in 2013. Barrnett and Strahan, graduates of the Rocky Mountain College program in PA studies, joined Big Horn Medicine in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

Cathy Bealer, Director of Professional Services at Sheridan Memorial Hospital said, “I can't think of a better team for this award. Dr. Hall and her team have been instrumental in leading and maintaining the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) certification as well transforming their team into one that can deliver high quality care to many patients in our region. We are proud of this team and all of our providers at BHMM who provide great care to our community.”
