WAPA doing their strang thang.
Orchestras play some of the most complex music written. Technique, tone, and timing are key to a balanced sound. WAPA’s orchestra invites members of band or vocal ensemble to join them on stage for select pieces.

For the annual musical, select members of the WAPA orchestra team up with professional musicians to play the score live from the pit.
Student performers learn to play their instruments’s part, coordinate with the rest of the pit, and play in real time with the action on stage.
Rachel Ostrander, strings specialist, started her career in New York teaching vocal music K-8. She moved to Columbus to attend OSU for her master's in string music education, in hopes of working in city schools again. Mrs. O started in 2018 at CCS with elementary instrumental. Mrs. O participated in many string festivals in the district and co-organized Saturday Strings Festival, a festival for all CCS elementary and middle school string students. Outside of CCS, Mrs. O worked with the Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestra for 8 years, teaching middle and high school students in Chamber Strings.
Mrs. Ostrander has always dreamed of becoming a high school orchestra teacher. Teaching at Whetstone is a dream come true. Let's make CCS strings the best program in Columbus!
