Whetstone bands play well together.

From marching across the field to playing in local venues, WAPA’s collection of bands stay in sync while developing their musical skills.

band

  • marching band

The Whetstone Marching Band starts off with band camp in the summer and bonds among marchers grow from there. The marching band lights up the field at home and away football games.

  • concert band

Once the marching season ends, the band shifts focus to concert performances. They add additional instruments (e.g. bassoon) and more complex songs to develop and refine musical skills.

  • jazz band

Band musicians looking for an extra challenge (and the opportunity to get a little funky) find a home in the energetic and welcoming jazz band.

  • pit orchestra

For the annual musical, members of the whetstone band and orchestra join forces with local professionals to perform live along with actors on stage.

Building a community through music.

WAPA musicians have been taking their show on the road recently. To local coffee shops, the Park of Roses, and countless events. As students develop their musical talent and confidence outside of the school’s four walls, they are truly bringing the community closer together.
